El propósito general del trabajo consiste en examinar las maneras en las que estas mujeres reconstruyen su identidad de género y organizan sus estrategias familiares de vida a partir de la necesidad de convertirse en alguna etapa de su vida en proveedoras económicas de sus hogares, considerando que, a partir de la experiencia de la jefatura, las jefas de hogar se reconstruyen a sí mismas no sólo como mujeres sino también como mujeres jefas de sus hogares.<br /></p><p><br /><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p><p>Female Headship and Family Welfare in Monterrey. A Qualitative Approach This paper presents an exploratory analysis of the relationship between female headship and family welfare by using qualitative data gathered trough semiestructured interviews to female household heads in Monterrey’s poor sectors. The paper is aimed to analyze the ways by which these women reconstruct their social gender identity and organize their family strategies in order to cope with the needs they face as heads of households by considering that upon the headship experience these women reconstruct themselves not only as women but also as women who have become head of households.</p> ER -
