Abstract

La matriz de insumo-producto es una herramienta muy versátil debido a que nos permite examinar los encadenamientos entre los sectores. También la tabla de insumo-producto puede ser utilizada para describir la economía regional o realizar análisis y pronósticos relacionados con ésta. En este artículo mostramos cómo la tabla de insumo producto puede contribuir al entendimiento de las articulaciones interindustriales y la estructura económica de Mexicali. Asimismo aplicamos el modelo para comprender las fuentes del crecimiento económico municipal: cuáles grupos tienen más probabilidades de beneficiarse con éste y cuáles no las tienen o pueden ser perjudicados por este desarrollo. ABSTRACTThe input-output table is a versatile tool because it enables us to examine linkages amog sectors. Input-output may be used to simply describe a regional economy o to analyze and forecast. In this paper, first, we show how input-output table can contribuite to an understanding of interindustry linkages and regional structure of Mexicali. Second, we use the model to understand the municipal economic growth—which groups are most likely to gain from local economic growth and which groups may not benefit or may actually be harmed.
