Abstract

Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron: 1)analizar el efecto de las políticas arancelaria, cambiaría y de subsidios del sector agrícola sobre la rentabilidad y exportación a Estados Unidos de jitomate (Lycopersicon esculentum,sp) procedente de Sinaloa y Baja California; 2)determinar los efectos en la rentabilidad y las exportaciones a dicho mercado en un escenario de apertura comercial, basado en la eliminación de dichas políticas, y 3)establecer si existen ventajas comparativas en este producto. Se utilizó como método de estudio la matriz de análisis de política (Monke y Pearson, 1989). ABSTRACT The purposes of this paper were 1)to analyze the effects of government policy on tariffs, exchange rate, and agricultural subsidies on levels of profitability and export of fresh tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum, sp) in Sinaloa and Baja California, 2)to determine what would happen to the level of profitability and v tomato exports to the US market if these policies were eliminated, and 3)to determine if there is comparative advantage in tomato production. The Policy Analysis Matrix method (Monke and Pearson, 1989) was used.Key words: Lycopersicon esculentum sp,intervention policies, profitability, free market, comparative advantage.
