Abstract

El presente estudio busca contribuir al análisis de la integración regional entre los estados del norte de la república y el estado de Texas, mediante el uso de modelos de series de tiempo. Se encontró que efectivamente sí existe una relación no espuria entre la actividad económica de Texas y los estados del norte. A nivel agregado, la actividad del norte depende tres veces más de Texas que del resto de Estados Unidos y todavía más que del resto de México. Sin embargo, la evidencia muestra que la integración intraregional de los estados del norte de México es bastante débil.AbstractThis study aims to contribute to the regional integration analysis of the North of Mexico and the State of Texas, by using time series models. Our findings suggest a non-spurious relation between economic activity in Texas and economic activity in the Northern Mexican States. At an aggregate level, the activity of the north depends three times more on Texas than on the rest of the United States, and even more than on the rest of Mexico. Nevertheless, the evidence shows that intraregional integration within the northern Mexican states is very weak.
