Abstract

Con la incorporación de la mujer a la producción cinematográfica se ha abierto la posibilidad de incluir el punto de vista femenino. Se incorporaron al cine nuevas tramas, nuevas perspectivas, nuevos personajes, nuevos ritmos y espacios, pero también, y de manera muy importante, se cambió la tradicional relación entre la película y su público, es decir, el proceso de recepción. Una de las características de las actuales películas realizadas por mujeres es el favorecimiento de relaciones de subjetividad ajenas a las promovidas por las formas de significación dominante.En este trabajo se analizan las características de la recepción cinematográfica por género, es decir, se dan a conocer los elementos centrales a los que el auditorio femenino y el masculino prestan especial atención, así como los elementos (temáticos, narrativos y discursivos) en los que se hace evidente la lectura diferenciada por género. El trabajo de campo se realizó en Madrid entre enero y mayo de 1994 utilizando la técnica de "grupos de discusión". La película que sirvió de estímulo a la discusión en grupo fue "Danzón" de la cineasta mexicana María Novaro. ABSTRACTWomen's induction into cinematography opened the possibility of including the female point of view. The incorporation of new kinds of story lines, perspectives, characters, rhythms and spaces resulted in important changes on both the reception process and the traditional relationship between the movie and its audience. One of the most interesting aspects of current movies made by women is the enhancement of subjective relationships, absent from the ones promoted by dominant male forms of expression. This article analyzes the characteristics of cinematographic reception by gender; in other words, it reveals the central elements to which female and male audiences pay special attention, as well as those — thematic, narrative and discursive — where gender-differentiated readings are evident. The field work for this investigation took place in Madrid between January and May of 1994, using a "discussion-group" technique. The movie chosen to stimulate discussion was Mexican director María Novaro's Film, "Danzón".
