Abstract

Ha surgido un continuo flujo de literatura popular y científica sobre la creciente industria maquiladora en la zona norte de México, en la cual se enfoca este fenómeno o como una posible amenaza nacional para México o bien como su salvación económica. La mayoría de estas versiones redactadas por escritores y reporteros de los medios publicitarios, analistas eruditos e historiadores documentados, son incongruentes y poco concluyentes en cuanto al valor positivo o negativo de esta industria. No sólo existen muchas disparidades entre estos grupos de escritores, sino que también discrepan entre sí los escritores pertenecientes a cada categoría.
